Welcome to the TISA Secondary School Website. Whether you are an existing member of our school community, thinking about joining TISA, or simply browsing our Website, we invite you to explore the site further and familiarize yourself with our school.
TISA is a school committed to the spirit of internationalism and academic excellence and central to our philosophy is the recognition that our students are deserving of an education that acknowledges the uniqueness of each through the promotion of personal and academic excellence, tolerance and responsibility. TISA students have the opportunity to learn about themselves and the world around them, to develop new skills and to form lasting friendships. This is achieved through the provision of a challenging inquiry-based curriculum developed through the framework of the International Baccalaureate Organisation.
The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IBMYP)
This is an internationally recognized programme designed to meet the educational requirements of students between the ages of 11 and 16 years. At TISA, the MYP builds and strengthens the foundation of learning and skills from the Primary Years Programme and prepares students for the IB Diploma Programme. MYP helps students develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills they need to participate actively and responsibly in a changing and increasingly interrelated world.
The IB Diploma Programme
TISA students have 2 Post-16 options: The IB Diploma Track and the TISA Graduation Track. Both tracks allow students to qualify for the TISA High School Diploma as long as they satisfy the requirements for graduation. The Post-16 Programme is a highly respected academic programme, recognized by colleges and universities in a myriad of countries on six continents. The Diploma is the most demanding of the two options in terms of student motivation and commitment, class and independent study time, study skills and application. In this respect, all students are expected, with guidance, to choose a programme that works towards graduation and provides the opportunity for optimum academic excellence. Students at TISA have achieved a high degree of success in gaining their diplomas, generally attaining a 100% pass rate and, moreover, have consistently scored above the IB world average in most subjects.
The secondary staff members are a caring, highly-qualified and multicultural team, carefully selected for their ability to make a positive impact on student lives and learning. Learning Support, Pastoral Coordinators and TAO (Taking Action Ourselves) teachers are an integral part of the support team and they assist students with personal and academic issues, monitor individual welfare and academic progress and consult with teachers and parents when needs arise. The College Counseling programme ensures that students enrol on the appropriate graduation path and that both students and parents are supported through the complexities of the college application process.
We offer secondary students a wide variety of co-curricular activities each designed to be inclusive and to help students develop individual interests, confidence and social skills. In many cases these activities are student-run.
Our students’ interests, both academic and social, are central to all of our programmes at TISA and we actively encourage student-voice. This, combined with strong connections to our parent community, has resulted in the development of a thriving, successful and exciting Secondary school.
