Our Programs
TISA Nursery (ages 2-3)
TISA Nursery, housed in the Early Learning Centre on the TISA main campus, is founded on the belief that a child’s early learning should be a happy, exciting and caring process, making it a first bridge between home and school education. Our ambition is to create a safe and inspiring place where children are positively encouraged to discover their potential and are guided in a gentle and friendly manner to follow their natural curiosity through creative work and play. Children are taught awareness of the world they live in and the people they share it with. We foster their social, emotional and cognitive skills through age-appropriate activities. We understand that children develop in different paces and give each child the individual attention to make each day in the nursery a pleasant, enjoyable and enriching one. Children are taught to be kind and helpful and to learn to share and work with their peers. The time in the Nursery gives them the preparation they need to join the next step in their educational journey.
Early Learning Centre (P1-P2)
The ELC at TISA is located on the main grounds of the TISA campus in a purpose-built early childhood facility that caters for the needs of young learners. The children in the ELC begin their educational journey in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program in P1. The learning program is not only rich, diverse and engaging but also a lot of fun as the children explore, create and play. The ELC is a dynamic community of learners in a facility that is full of natural light and open spaces allowing for maximum use of both the indoor and outdoor learning environment all year round. Inside the ELC, you will find a collaborative and inquiry-based venue with: dedicated classrooms; shared inquiry and purposeful play areas; physical education and performing arts space; kitchen and cafeteria room; visual arts area; spaces for Science and Technology; and an ELC Library. Outside there is a safely cushioned play area, large sandpit, fenced in grass area, water play area with fountains, and a wonderful ELC garden where children participate in gardening throughout the year. Please visit the ELC website or make an appointment to come and see the wonderful learning environment in the ELC.
Primary School (P3-P8)
The IB Primary Years Program focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside.
The programme:
-
encourages international-mindedness in IB students
-
encourages a positive attitude to learning by engaging students in inquiries and developing their awareness of the process of learning so that they become lifelong learners
-
reflects real life by encouraging learning beyond traditional subjects with meaningful in-depth inquiries into real issues
-
emphasizes, through the learner profile, the development of the whole student-physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically.
The most significant and distinctive feature of the IB Primary Years Programme is the six transdisciplinary themes. These themes are about issues that have meaning for, and are important to, all of us. The programme offers a balance between learning about or through the subject areas, and learning beyond them. The six themes of global significance create a transdisciplinary framework that allows students to “step up” beyond the confines of learning within subject areas:
- Who We Are
- Where We Are in Place and Time
- How We Express Ourselves
- How the World Works
- How We Organise Ourselves
- Sharing the Planet
Secondary School (M1 - M5)
Independent, resourceful, curious, caring. These are the qualities the IB Middle Years Programme aims to develop. Designed for students aged 11-16, the MYP Programme builds on the inquiry skills from Primary Years Programme while cultivating the critical thinking skills necessary for the Diploma Programme. A curriculum framework including eight broad disciplines, the MYP builds conceptual understanding and subject-specific academic knowledge through units of inquiry that encourage students to question. The MYP curriculum goes beyond what students learn, teaching them how to learn through the Approaches to Learning and encouraging them to act upon this learning through our Service as Action program.
Diploma Program (DP1 -DP2)
The IB Diploma Programme is a challenging two-year pre-university curriculum, primarily aimed at students aged 16 to 19. It leads to a qualification (the IB diploma) that is widely recognised by the world’s leading universities. The IB Diploma Programme at TISA is committed to the development of the “whole person” and we offer a holistic educational experience where students’ talents, skills and interests can be developed. Our classrooms provide a student-centred learning environment where our young people are engaged and challenged to develop essential critical thinking skills. Completion of the full International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme or individual IB certificates gives students an academic passport for admittance to the best universities and colleges throughout the world.
