Welcome to the Primary Years Programme (PYP) at TISA. The PYP is an integrated curriculum framework that is relevant, challenging and engaging for learners from ages three to twelve. It is a conceptual, inquiry-based curriculum framework that actively encourages students to ask questions and seek answers about the world around them. The PYP curriculum at TISA is transdisciplinary and fully supports core subject areas including language, mathematics, science, social studies, the arts and physical education.
At TISA we envisage a community with a shared mission to empower young learners with the values, knowledge and skills to create a better and more peaceful world. This is the underpinning philosophy of the International Baccalaureate (IB).
Through the PYP, the TISA primary school aims to provide an education that enables students to make sense of the complexities of the world around them, as well as equipping them with the skills and dispositions needed for taking responsible action for the future. We provide an education that crosses disciplinary, cultural, national and geographical boundaries, and that champions critical engagement, stimulating ideas, and meaningful relationships.
Four foundational and interrelated elements are central to all IB programmes, including the PYP.
• International-mindedness
• The IB learner profile
• A broad, balanced, conceptual and connected curriculum
• Approaches to teaching and learning
Additional curriculum information can be found in the grade level Curriculum Guides.
