As a part of Service learning this year M2 students have been working with The Caspian Compassion Project (CCP), which is a non-government health centre (clinic) providing eye and dental services for children and adults from low income families.

After the first visit to the clinic in September, the needs of the clinic were identified and the following service groups were established: gardening, media, wall mural, stationary and toys (for young patients in the waiting room). M2 students worked hard to achieve their goals and revisited the clinic on April 24th to deliver their stationary, toys, paintings and plants to the clinic.

The pond group combined their skills learned in science (We Are What We Eat unit) and Mathematics (Ratio, Rates and Proportion) to clean the pond area and make it a more visible area for students to hang out.

The group have also used these skills to build a chicken coop to donate eggs to local charities and school events. Apart form that, M2 students’ donations, which covered the cost of materials for surgery, helped 6 elderly people who were about to lose their sights to see the world again.
