The Hour of Code is a global movement that started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. TISA is in its third year of being involved in the Hour of Code in the Primary school, and every student in P2-P8 took part in a coding activity during the last week of term.

It is amazing to see how engaged and enthusiastic students of all ages are about coding. In their own words, the benefits of coding and learning computational thinking go beyond the classroom. It helps students decompose problems, teaches directional language and allows them to deconstruct their thinking, "If I'm here, and I want to go there, what do I have to do?" Coding further helps young minds persevere to find solutions when routines and expectations do not produce results.

TISA continues to integrate computer science lessons into the Primary curriculum - a huge bonus for the majority of students.
