It was very special that my mummy was there to become a qualified swim teacher!

- Amber Maltby, P7S

Swimming will become an integral and exciting part of the Primary School’s PHE curriculum starting from the next academic year! To prepare for this impending update, Baku Sharks swimmers and TISA’s PE coaches traveled to the swimming arenas of the Crescent Beach Hotel and Ramada for a series of workshops led by Lesley Murray, a certified ASA trainer.

I wish we could do swimming for PE in M1, because I love swimming!

- Kolyn Nguyen, P8DN

I loved jumping in like a pencil!

- Annika Johansson, P4M

Throughout the week, students from P3 to P8, of different levels of swim abilities, got a ‘taster’ of what the PYP PE swimming programme is going to be like. Our PE gurus worked hard alongside the students to become qualified ASA swimming teachers, delivering a mixture of classroom activities, e-learning exercises, and practical poolside learning sessions.

The trainer expected us to do lots of things we weren't used to. I think we learned a lot of new techniques.

- Freya Hore, P8DN

P4s will pilot the programme as early as May (!) with teachers getting used to taking the primary students through the ropes toward becoming competent young swimmers. Read more about the ASA course here!
